Design & fit-out of a charity-run retail bookshop

The Brief

Create a welcoming and distinctive bookshop environment within the practical constraints of a charity-run retail space.
The layout needed to support clear browsing, intuitive circulation and efficient daily operation.

Our Approach

A rustic, industrial material language was introduced to provide warmth and character without unnecessary complexity.
Shelving and circulation were structured to support easy browsing and clear movement through the space. Lighting was positioned to enhance readability while maintaining overall depth and balance.
Material choices were selected to achieve durability and presence within a cost-conscious framework.

The Result

The completed shop combines a clear and intuitive layout with a strong material identity.
Shelving and lighting support comfortable browsing, while the overall interior feels structured and well resolved.

The space now supports practical daily retail use while maintaining a welcoming and recognisable character.
